4 dead including suspect in shooting at Dasmariñas barangay hall —PRO 4A

Four people, including the suspect, were dead after a shooting incident during a flag-raising ceremony at a barangay hall in Dasmariñas City, Cavite on Monday morning, the Police Regional Office 4A (PRO 4A) said.

The PRO 4A said three of the four fatalities were barangay officials while the other one was the suspect who was identified as 50-year-old “Ariel,” a former barangay tanod.

“Habang isinasagawa ang isang flag raising ceremony sa harapan ng barangay hall ng Brgy. Salitran 3, biglang lumapit mula sa likuran ang suspek na kinilalang si 'Ariel', 50 taong gulang, dating Barangay Tanod ng nasabing barangay,” the police said.

(While a flag raising ceremony was being held in front of the barangay hall of Brgy. Salitran 3, the suspect, identified as "Ariel", 50 years old, former Barangay Tanod of the said barangay, suddenly approached the area from the back.)

“Agad itong naglabas ng hindi pa matukoy na uri ng baril at sunod-sunod na nagpaputok sa mga opisyal ng barangay na nasa lugar,” it added.

(He immediately pulled out an unidentified type of gun and opened fire on the barangay officials in the area.)

Another barangay official was also hurt in the incident and is currently undergoing treatment.

After the shooting, the PRO 4A said the suspect shot himself. He was brought to St. Paul Medical Center where he was declared dead.

Investigators have yet to determine the motive of the suspect in the fatal shooting.

PRO 4A chief Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas ordered a thorough probe into the incident. —KG, GMA Integrated News
