Former Lagayan, Abra mayor killed in shooting incident

Former Lagayan, Abra mayor Jendricks Luna was gunned down in front of his house in Barangay Dangdangla in Bangued on Tuesday morning, the Police Regional Office - Cordillera (PRO COR) said.

Based on a police report, Luna was sitting at a kiosk in front of his residence when the perpetrators aboard two motorcycles arrived and shot him multiple times.

The perpetrators fled towards an unknown direction. 

Luna, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds on different parts of his body, was brought by his relatives to Seares Memorial Hospital for medical treatment.

However, the 54-year-old victim was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician, according to the police.

Nearby police stations, mobile forces, and intelligence operatives were alerted to conduct dragnet operations to arrest the perpetrators.

The crime scene is set to undergo processing as part of the investigation into the incident.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
