BARMM recorded 46 mpox cases –MOH

The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao recorded a total of 46 cases of monkeypox as of June 8, 2025, according to the Ministry of Health.

In a statement Tuesday, the MOH said of the 46 cases, eight were positive, 31 suspected, and seven probable.

Eight patients have already recovered, while other patients are still recovering. No fatalities have been recorded.

The MOH urged the public not to panic as it is now working with local government units and health agencies on controlling the spread of the disease with strengthened surveillance and proper medical care for affected patients.

The MOH also advised the public to adhere to the following safety precautions:

  • Avoid close contact with individuals showing flu-like symptoms
  • Practice regular handwashing and maintain personal hygiene
  • Refrain from sharing personal items such as clothes and towels
  • Seek early medical consultation if experiencing fever, joint pain, skin rashes, or lesions
  • Isolate immediately and notify local health authorities if MPOX symptoms appear

"We are doing everything we can to mitigate the spread of MPOX. Our teams are conducting specimen collections for confirmatory testing, and we have imposed self-restriction and isolation protocols for suspected and confirmed cases,” the MOH said.

"We have assigned well-equipped health centers with medical personnel following strict protocols to ensure proper treatment and containment," it added. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/AOL, GMA Integrated News
