DOTr revokes licenses of 3 GV Florida bus drivers in viral racing video
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) on Friday said the licenses of three bus drivers of GV Florida Transport, Inc. have been revoked for allegedly racing along a national highway in Cagayan.
In a press conference, DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon said the Land Transportation Office (LTO) already enforced the driver’s license revocation against the three bus drivers.
“We have already revoked the licenses of the three drivers,” Dizon said.
However, Dizon said GV Florida Transport has yet to present the three other bus drivers who were also involved in the racing incident and the video of which went viral online.
“May problema kami kasi ayaw i-give up ng Florida yung tatlo pang driver,” Dizon said.
(We have a problem because Florida doesn’t want to give up the other three drivers.)
“So we are demanding them to give up those drivers. Kung hindi, mas bibigatan natin ang penalties sa buong kompanya nila kung hindi nila gagawin,” he added.
(So we are demanding them to give up those drivers. Otherwise, we will impose heavier penalties on their entire company if they don’t do so.)
Dizon earlier said 15 GV Florida Transport buses were suspended for 30 days following the viral racing video.
According to the DOTr, the suspended buses involved are plying the routes of Sta. Ana to Sampaloc in Cagayan and from Baguio City to Apayao.
The bus company issued an apology stating that “the content does not align with our company’s values and standards.”
“I personally told Chairman Guadiz to seek the maximum penalties against [GV] Florida Bus. Hindi porket walang nasaktan, walang nadisgrasya ay ganun ganun na lang. I saw the statement and apology of the [GV Florida Transport] and I’m telling them now, apology not accepted… Ginawa lang sports car yung mga bus nila,” Dizon said during a press briefing together with officials of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.
