9 hurt after truck hits SUV, wing van in Antipolo
At least nine people were injured after a dump truck hit a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and another truck in Barangay Mambungan, Antipolo City on Wednesday.
According to Jamie Santos’ “24 Oras” report, the dump truck driver allegedly lost his brakes along Sumulong Highway and at least 10 vehicles were affected in the mishap.
The CCTV footage in a gasoline station showed that the dump truck hit the SUV and caused it to spin due to the force of the collision.
Right after hitting the SUV, the dump truck also hit an approaching wing van.
Both of the trucks’ front end were damaged as their windshields were both shattered.
The dump truck came from Antipolo proper and was going to Masinag when the driver allegedly lost his brakes along the uphill portion of the highway.
Its air brake also did not work, causing it to crash into other vehicles.
The incident caused heavy traffic congestion along the highway.
Soft drink bottles from an affected elf truck were also scattered along the road.
The injured persons were brought to the hospital for medical treatment.
Another incident involving another elf truck and three vehicles was also reported near the area. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
