Taxi driver in Davao faces complaint over alleged P3K fare
A taxi driver in Davao City is facing complaints after allegedly charging two passengers almost P3,000 for a short trip from Davao International Airport to Davao City Overland Transport Terminal (DCOTT)—a distance of just over 12 kilometers.
According to an Unang Balita report, the incident went viral after the couple’s child posted about the alleged overcharging on social media, drawing widespread criticism.
One of the passengers claimed they had already noticed something was off during the ride, saying the taximeter was running unusually fast.
When they raised their concern, the driver reportedly replied, “Wala akong magagawa, ganyan talaga ’yan” (There's nothing I can do, that's just how it works).
The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) Region XI has summoned the driver to explain his side and is currently investigating the incident. —Sherylin Untalan/AOL, GMA Integrated News
