Magnitude 5.9 earthquake recorded in Davao Occidental waters

A magnitude 5.9 earthquake struck in the waters of Davao Occidental on Saturday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The tectonic earthquake occurred at 5:29 a.m.
Its epicenter was located at 02.06°N, 126.91°E - 406 km S 24° E of Balut Island, Municipality Of Sarangani, Davao Occidental.
The quake had a depth of 115 km.
PHIVOLCS' instruments showed that Intensity III was recorded in Santo Niño, South Cotabato, and Intensity II in Malungon, Sarangani; Koronadal City, T'Boli, and Tupi in South Cotabato.
Meanwhile, Intensity I was recorded in Alabel, Kiamba, and Glan in Sarangani, as well as in General Santos City.
No aftershocks and no damage are expected, PHIVOLCS said. —KG, GMA Integrated News
