License of driver in fatal CLLEX road crash ordered revoked


Road crash on Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEx) in Tarlac

Transportation Secretary Vince Dizon ordered the perpetual revocation of the license of the driver involved in a fatal road crash recently on the Central Luzon Link Expressway (CLLEx) in Tarlac, the Department of Transportation said Sunday.

Five people died while eight others were injured in the accident.

The van driver said that he lost control of the vehicle before hitting the metal fence and veering off to the side of the road.

The driver was among the injured individuals who were brought to the hospital for medical treatment.

The victims were workers from Caloocan City who were headed to Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

The LTO issued a show cause order summoning the owner and driver of the vehicle to appear on August 22 before the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division and explain the matter.

The driver's license of the van driver was already temporarily suspended for 90 days.

The Tarlac Provincial Office conducted a drug test on the van driver which yielded a positive result. —KG, GMA Integrated News
