Driver in viral counterflow incident in Bulacan suspended for 90 days


Pickup caught on video doing counterflow in Malolos, Bulacan

The license of a pickup driver caught in a viral video counterflowing in Malolos, Bulacan has been suspended for 90 days, the Department of Transportation said Monday.

In a show cause order, the Land Transportation Office (LTO) directed the registered owner of a Nissan Navara and the designated driver to explain the incident.

The driver may face charges for Driving Against Traffic, Obstruction of Traffic, and Improper Person to Operate a Motor Vehicle.

The LTO also ordered the immediate surrender of the driver’s license and placed the motorist’s record under “Alarm” status pending investigation. 

A hearing has been scheduled on August 22, 2025 at the LTO Intelligence and Investigation Division in Quezon City.

The action follows President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.’s call for motorists to be responsible and exercise patience on the road to ensure the safety of all road users, the DOTr said. —Sherylin Untalan/KG, GMA Integrated News
