Ambuklao, Binga dams open gates amid Huaning, Habagat
The Ambuklao and Binga dams in Benguet opened one gate each on Monday amid the effects of Tropical Depression Huaning and the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), according to state weather bureau PAGASA.
In a hydrological situationer issued at 9 a.m., PAGASA said that the Ambuklao gate discharged 129.86 cubic meters per second (cms) of water as of 8 a.m.
Its water level was recorded at 751.06 meters.
PAGASA warned that Barangay Ambuklao, Bokod, Benguet will likely be affected.
Meanwhile, the Binga gate discharged 148.55 cms of water while its water level was recorded at 574.61 meters.
Barangays Dalupirip and Tinongdan, Itogon, Benguet may be affected, according to the bureau.
“Residents and the Local Disasters Risk Reduction and Management Councils concerned are advised to take the necessary precautionary measures,” PAGASA said.
PAGASA said the advisory is valid until the next issuance on August 19, 9 a.m.
Earlier, the bureau said that Huaning is moving northward and is expected to leave the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Monday night or early Tuesday morning. —Joahna Lei Casilao/KG, GMA Integrated News
