12 minors nabbed in illegal Bulacan drag race

Twenty-four people, including 12 minors, were apprehended by police for their alleged involvement in an illegal motorcycle drag race in San Rafael, Bulacan.

In John Consulta’s exclusive report in “24 Oras” on Monday, video footage from the Philippine National Police Highway Patrol Group (PNP-HPG) showed the participants racing on their motorcycles without helmets. Several participants even had passengers riding in tandem.

(We received information from a concerned citizen about drag racing happening along the Mabalas-Balas-Galas-Maasim Bypass Road in San Rafael, Bulacan, with young people participating.)

One of the minors figured in an accident and sustained a bone fracture after he attempted to evade authorities.

(Most of those we apprehended were not wearing helmets, their vehicles were unregistered, and parts of their motorcycles have been modified. These modifications could potentially cause harm to the drivers themselves.)

The minors nabbed by authorities were turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development, while the rest were charged for various violations, the report said. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
