2 arrested for allegedly raping minors in separate incidents

A farmer was arrested in Bukidnon for alleged rape

Two men were arrested for allegedly raping minors in separate incidents in Bukidnon and in North Cotabato.

In Kibawe, Bukidnon, a 41-year-old farmer was arrested for allegedly raping his 17-year-old daughter.

According to the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-10), the suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for two counts of qualified rape and two counts of sexual assault.

The court did not allow the suspect to post bail for the rape charges but set bail at P100,000 for each sexual assault case.

PRO-10 said the suspect allegedly abused the victim sexually at night in March and May 2025.

Police said the victim kept her silence at first because the suspect allegedly threatened her. She would confide later in her mother.

The suspect is now in police custody.

“The fight against crimes targeting women and children is one of our top priorities. We encourage the community to remain vigilant and work with us in ensuring that offenders are held accountable,” PRO-10 Director Rolindo Suguilon said.

Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) arrested a 32-year-old man for allegedly raping his minor sister-in-law in Libungan, North Cotabato.

CIDG said the suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant for qualified statutory rape. He was tagged as number nine most wanted person in the region.

CIDG said the suspect allegedly raped his minor sister-in-law, who is now 16 years old, since 2020 at his house, which is adjacent to the victim’s home. The last incident allegedly happened on March 13, 2024.

Authorities said the victim did not report the incident out of fear until she could no longer endure the pain and trauma.

The victim’s mother reported the incident to the police on September 22, 2024, and filed a complaint before the Provincial Prosecutor’s Office two days later.

“I commend the CIDG North Cotabato Provincial Field Unit for capturing this accused, we cannot allow suspects of rape, most especially - Qualified Stautory Rape - to roam around freely and can victimize more minors. With this arrest, we helped the minor victim and her family attain the justice they deserved,” CIDG Director, Brigadier General Christopher Abrahano, said. GMA Regional TV
