6 pupils hurt as stage canopy collapses in Albay

At least six students were injured after a stage canopy collapsed at Peñaranda Park in Legazpi City, Albay.

About 40 students were in the middle of dance practice when the canopy suddenly collapsed at 5:50 p.m. on Saturday, according to Police Lieutenant Colonel Domingo Tapel, Legazpi City Police office-in-charge.

“Sa lakas ng ulan, napuno ng tubig 'yung trapal. Medyo bumigat ang bubong, nag cause ng crack sa bakal at nahati sa gitna at bumagsak,” Tapel told Super Radyo dzBB.

(Due to the heavy rain, the collapsible tent accumulated water. The roof became too heavy and caused the metal supports to snap and collapse in the middle.)
