Cebu Province suspends over 150 infra projects

The Cebu Provincial Government has suspended temporarily at least 154 infrastructure projects.

Governor Pamela Baricuatro has already issued an order on July 28, 2025 on the temporary stoppage of infrastructure projects in the Province of Cebu, but this was implemented only on August 22, 2025.

Baricuatro has sought a comprehensive review and audit of the projects to ensure that requirements in implementing these are observed based on auditing standards, including procurement laws, and other regulations and provisions.

The governor ordered the Provincial Engineering Office to have all projects halted temporarily; 140 of which are from the Construction Division while 14 are from the Waterworks Division.

It was also learned that contractors have already submitted the documents required by the Technical Working Group, and other essentials, for the comprehensive review and audit.

Baricuatro said that it is only when projects are found to be compliant with requisites that Capitol would allow contractors to proceed. — GMA Regional TV News
