Baguio's Maharlika Livelihood Complex hit by 8-hour fire
A fire broke out at Maharlika Livelihood Complex on Magsaysay Avenue in Baguio City on Saturday evening, the local government said.
It took almost eight hours before the fire was put out by firemen.
The fire was first reported at 9:11 p.m., according to Bureau of Fire Protection City Fire Marshal Mark Anthony Dangatan, the Baguio City Public Information Office (PIO) said in a post on Sunday, citing the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Response.
"The fire razed the basement of the Mahalika Livelihood Complex with a floor area of 1,500 square meters," the Baguio PIO added.
Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong was seen at the site monitoring the situation.
Some roads around Maharlika Livelihood Complex were temporarily closed to allow emergency responders to have access to the site.
Firemen were able to put the fire under control at 3:56 a.m. Sunday.
