Pickup slams into tricycle carrying 2-year-old in Calinog, Iloilo

A pickup crashed into a tricycle with a two-year-old passenger in Calinog, Iloilo.

According to John Consulta’s report in “State of the Nation” on Thursday, CCTV footage shows the tricycle making a U-turn after dropping off a passenger. Left inside the tricycle’s sidecar is the driver’s two-year-old grandchild. 

The next clip shows a pickup approaching at speed and slamming into the tricycle with such force that the driver was thrown to the ground. 

The tricycle driver immediately ran to his grandchild, who was fortunately safe. But the former suffered injuries.

Although it was not caught on CCTV, the pickup also crashed into a parked motorcycle. 

The police said that the pickup's driver had suddenly fallen ill and lost control of their steering wheel. 

It remains unclear, however, if charges will be filed against the motorist, who is being treated at a hospital. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/BM, GMA Integrated News
