All systems go for Trillion Peso March in Cities of Iloilo, Bacolod

A church leader in Iloilo City has underscored the importance of ventilation of righteous anger against deemed massive corruption in government.

“Dapat tayong magalit talaga para maramdaman nila ang ating hinanakit at sana naman, mahiya sila,” Msgr. Meliton Oso, head of the Jaro Archdiocesan Social Action Center, said.

Oso has urged Ilonggos to participate in the “Trillion Peso March” on Sunday, September 21, 2025 that coincides with the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of Martial Law.

According to the group “Kahublagan Kontra Korapsyon,” or KKK, at least 3,000 Ilonggos are expected to join in the activity.

The march will start at Jaro Plaza at the University of the Philippines Visayas Iloilo City Campus.

Separate groups will converge at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol where a concert that condemns corruption will be staged.

“This is a ventilation of righteous anger sa mga nangyayari na nakakasuka, nakakahiya, nakakainis na pangungurakot,” Oso underscored.

Oso added that Jaro Archbishop Midyphil Billones is expected to join the march.

In the morning of September 19, 2025, progressive groups were preoccupied with the preparation of placards and tarpaulins that bear popular sentiments against alleged massive corruption leading to plunder of government funds, as well as flags of various sectors.

In Bacolod City, protest materials have been prepared for the rally, as of this writing.

Over 6,000 Bacolodnons are expected to gather for the activity at the public plaza by 1 p.m. on September 21, 2025.

The protest will be led by members of the clergy of the Diocese of Bacolod and the Council of Concerned Citizens, or C3.

Beginning Saturday, September 20, 2025, Police Regional Office 6 is on heightened alert.

At least 2,500 police personnel will be deployed to ensure security during the protest actions.

Road closure on half of the lane for the route of the march will be implemented.

“Allowed ang lahat na mag-express ng kanilang mga sentiments sa mga pressing issues but gagawin natin siya in a peaceful and responsible manner na wala tayong vina-violate na law,” Major Lailyn Sencil, PRO 6 spokesperson, reminded protesters. — John Sala, GMA Regional TV News
