Resorts, rice fields washed out in Zambales due to Nando

While not on the direct path of Super Typhoon Nando, some resorts and rice fields in Zambales were not spared from its adverse effects.

According to Marisol Abdurahman’s Tuesday report on “24 Oras,” residents in Barangay Bulawon in Sta. Cruz, Zambales experienced a heavy downpour, which caused the rice fields to be submerged in floodwater.

In Barangay Bolitoc, more than 100 families were evacuated due to the effects of the storm.

The structures of some resorts were also damaged by the strong waves in San Felipe, Zambales.

A resident said strong winds were experienced at around 11 p.m.

Some nipa huts were also destroyed by the storm. The owners said they could not open for business since a lot of repairs are required for their establishments.

One resident said he secured his roof to prevent it from flying away during the storm.

The death toll from Nando has risen to three, according to the latest figures from the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (NDRRMC) on Tuesday. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
