Thunderstorm, Paolo cause flooding in several Batangas towns
While there is no storm signal over Batangas, residents experienced floods due to the effects of Severe Tropical Storm Paolo.
According to Mark Salazar’s report on “24 Oras” on Friday, residents of Barangay Santa Ana in Calatagan, Batangas woke up to heavy downpour that caused zero visibility in the area.
The rain, which was initially caused by a thunderstorm, also prompted several localities to suspend classes.
Meanwhile, the Lemery-Taal Bypass Road was deemed impassable due to knee-deep flooding. Other areas in Lemery also experienced gutter-deep flooding, which slowed traffic early in the morning.
The municipality of Lian is closely monitoring the Bagbag and Palico rivers.
In Barangay Kapito in Lian, a rerouting scheme was implemented due to the floodwater.
Roads in Barangay Bilibinwang in Agoncillo were also submerged in floodwater.
At around 4 p.m., the floodwater along the diversion road in Lemery slightly receded, easing the traffic. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA Integrated News
