Northern Luzon areas suffer from Paolo’s onslaught
Severe Tropical Storm Paolo swept across parts of northern Luzon before leaving the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) early Saturday morning.
According to a "24 Oras Weekend" report by Sandra Aguinaldo, footage showed a house being slowly swept away by the rushing river in Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya.
Residents who managed to evacuate before the river overflowed wept as they watched their homes being carried away by the flood.
A bridge in the town of Bayombong was also flooded as the Cagayan River overflowed due to heavy rains.
In Casiguran, Aurora, water entered homes and reached knee-deep.
Floodwaters appeared like waterfalls on a main road in La Trinidad, Benguet.
The Pinacanauan River in Isabela also overflowed after the Magat Dam released water.
Cagayan farmers filled the road with sacks of wet rice, while strong winds almost uprooted trees in Laoag City, Ilocos Norte.
All Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals were lifted on Saturday morning as Paolo moved toward southern China after exiting the Philippine Area of Responsibility. —Jamil Santos/VBL, GMA Integrated News
