Ambuklao, Binga, Magat dams open spillway gates - PAGASA
The Ambuklao, Binga, and Magat dams have opened at least one gate each as water levels have nearly reached their normal high water levels (NHWL), PAGASA said on Monday.
According to the state weather bureau’s dam information as of 8 a.m., the reservoir water level at Ambuklao is at 751.72 meters, which is 0.28 meters below its NHWL of 752.0 meters. A gate with 0.5 meter opening discharged 90.73 centimeters of water.
The water level at Binga Dam, on the other hand, is at 574.22 meters. It is 0.62 meters below the 575.0 meters NHWL. One gate was also opened with 0.5 meter opening and it discharged 84.36 cms of water.
Further, the Magat Dam’s reservoir water level is at 184.69 meters. This is 0.25 meters below the 193.0 meters NHWL. A gate with a 1.0 meter opening was opened. It expelled 225.00 cms of water.
Last October 3, six spillway gates of Magat Dam were opened due to the heavy rainfall brought by Tropical Cyclone Paolo. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
