The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) on Friday said all airports under its jurisdiction remain operational following the magnitude 7.4 earthquake that rocked Manay, Davao Oriental on Friday morning.
“Initial assessments indicate no major damage to airport facilities nationwide,” the CAAP said.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the earthquake with a depth of 20 kilometers occurred at 09:43 a.m.
Initially, PHIVOLCS reported that the earthquake was magnitude 7.6 before downgrading it to 7.4 at 11 a.m.
CAAP said that minor cracks were observed in the logistics building of Dipolog Airport.
The agency said it is currently conducting an inspection to ensure structural integrity and passenger safety.
Meanwhile, two commercial flights bound for Davao were diverted following the tremor:
- GAP2813 (Manila–Davao) – diverted to Mactan-Cebu International Airport
- CEB963 (Manila–Davao) – diverted to General Santos International Airport
The CAAP said it continues to monitor airport operations closely. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
