Sea travel resumes in earthquake-hit Davao Oriental
Sea travel in Davao Oriental resumed on Saturday after it was suspended on Friday due to two powerful earthquakes off the province's coast that triggered tsunami warnings.
Davao Oriental was hit by a magnitude 7.4 earthquake on Friday morning, followed by a magnitude 6.8 tremor in the evening.
"Normal maritime operations are authorized to resume effective immediately," according to an advisory issued by the Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao after the tsunami warnings were canceled by the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).
“In this connection, all ships/watercraft transiting within the [Coast Guard District Southeastern Mindanao (CGDSM)] AOR [Area of Responsibility] are advised to take note of the information and take precautionary measures at all times." —Jiselle Anne Casucian/VBL, GMA Integrated News
