4 killed, 8 hurt after truck rams 11 vehicles, 3 houses in Lucena, Quezon

Four were killed and eight others were injured after a wayward truck rammed into 11 vehicles and three houses along Maharlika Highway in Lucena City, Quezon on Saturday night.

According to Katrina Son’s report on “24 Oras Weekend,” the truck driver also died in the mishap.

The truck came from Bulacan and was loaded with fertilizer bound for Bicol when the accident happened. 

The truck driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into 11 vehicles on the side of the highway. It also smashed into three houses by the roadside, quickly destroying the houses.

The report added that the first vehicle that the truck rammed into immediately caught fire.

Aside from the truck driver, two passengers of a tricycle and a resident perished in the crash.

The report said eight others were injured and are still confined in the hospital.

Authorities are still investigating the incident and are also reaching out to the employer of the truck driver. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
