Man dead after crocodile attack in Bataraza, Palawan

A 22-year-old man was found dead after he was attacked by a crocodile while sleeping on his boat at Sitio Marabahay, Barangay Rio Tuba, in Bataraza, Palawan. 

According to the report by Super Radyo Palawan’s JB Juanich on Thursday, the chairperson of Barangay Rio Tuba said the victim was actually a resident of Taytay, also in Palawan, and just went to their barangay to fish. 

The crocodile reportedly attacked the victim in his sleep and brought the body to a mangrove area.

Personnel from the Coast Guard Station Southern Palawan as well as the Philippine National Police Maritime Group and the barangay personnel immediately conducted a search and rescue operation, the report said. 

The Coast Guard District Palawan said the victim's body was found floating and was only recovered when the crocodile was out of sight. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA Integrated News
