Dog rescued from sinkhole after Cebu earthquake
Residents of San Remigio town in Cebu risked life and limb to save a dog that fell into a sinkhole that developed following an earthquake that hit the province.
In a report on “24 Oras” on Thursday, a video showed a man descending the sinkhole using a rope and aided by other residents.
At the bottom of the sinkhole, the man tied a rope around the dog so that residents at the top could pull the dog up to safety.
The video’s uploader said the dog was already returned to its owner.
Another sinkhole was spotted in the mountainous portion of Barangay Maslog in Tagobon, Cebu.
The Tagobon Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office said the sinkhole is far away from the residential area of the town, but they are still conducting an assessment just to be sure.
Four other sinkholes were observed along the coast of the same barangay.
The Philippine Coast Guard will install buoys in the area to prevent people from getting near the submerged sinkholes. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
