Cebu earthquake affected over 748,000 people —NDRRMC
A total of 748,379 individuals have so far been affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Bogo City, Cebu last September 30, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Sunday.
This is equivalent to 217,012 families in Central Visayas, based on NDRRMC’s latest situational report.
Of the total number, 1,324 families or 5,170 persons were in 19 evacuation centers.
The reported deaths remained at 79 while reported injuries numbered 559. All are for validation.
The NDRRMC also reported 12,704 aftershocks since the earthquake hit Cebu last September 30.
There are also 134,224 recorded damaged houses, of which 126,928 are partially damaged and 7,296 are totally damaged.
So far, the Cebu earthquake has left P6,765,661 worth of infrastructure damaged in Region 7.
"A total of 11 road sections and 25 bridges were affected," the NDRRMC said. Four road sections and 11 bridges remained not passable.
A total of P464.78 million worth of assistance has been provided to the affected families, NDRRMC said.
Cebu was placed under a state of calamity the following day the earthquake devastated the province. —KG, GMA Integrated News
