Landslide causes road collapse in Bukidnon
A large portion of the Bukidnon–Davao City Road along Overview, Palacapao, Quezon, Bukidnon has collapsed following a landslide on Saturday, October 18, 2025, prompting authorities to close the area temporarily.
According to the local government, a bao-bao or tricab was found buried under the soil that slid down the area.
Members of the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO), the military, the police, and other agencies concerned have launched search and retrieval operations for the individuals who were on board the vehicle.
"Sa karon, anaay nakita nga isa ka bao-bao nga natabunan sa yuta nga midahili. Ginapangita pa karon ang duha ka magtiayon nga nagsakay sa maong bao-bao niadtong pagkahitabo," the local government said.
The Department of Public Works and Highways–Northern Mindanao (DPWH-10), the extent of the damage is still being assessed.
All lanes are impassable to all vehicles as of this writing, and motorists are advised to take alternate routes as follows:
- From Cagayan de Oro City to Tagum City: Jct Sayre Highway Poblacion Valencia City, Bukidnon via Kapalong - Talaingod - Valencia Road
- From Camp 1 Maramag, Bukidnon to Davao City: Via Jct. Bukidnon- Davao City Road to Cotabato Boundary - Carmen-Kabacan-Matalam-Kidapawan, Cotabato-Digos City, Davao
Authorities have installed traffic signage and barriers to guide motorists.
In a statement, DPWH Secretary Vince Dizon has ordered the immediate closure of the road while the assessment team investigates the incident.
The agency will provide recommendation based on the results of the investigation. —GMA Regional TV
