Smoke bombs down several students in Legazpi, Albay

Several students of the Bicol University were rushed to the hospital after experiencing difficulty in breathing and passing out due to the colored smoke bombs used in a school event.

According to a "24 Oras" report, the colored smoke was used as props during a week-long event that included an olympics.

The school administration suspended classes until October 22 because of the incident.

It also ensured that it attended to the needs of those affected by the smoke.

In a social media post, the university said classes will resume on October 23.

"Meanwhile, the conduct of games and sports activities shall proceed on October 23-25, 2025. This brief adjustment is intended to allow for the deep cleaning and preparation of the BUPGA Sports Complex grounds on October 22, 2025, to ensure the safety, cleanliness, and readiness of the venue before the continuation of the University Olympics," it added.

The university added that "athletes who are indisposed or still recovering shall not be compelled to participate in the games. Their health and well-being shall take precedence over competition." —LDF, GMA Integrated News
