Kanlaon Volcano had 2 ash emissions —PHIVOLCS

Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Island emitted ash twice on Thursday morning, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS).

In a Facebook post with footage of the events, PHIVOLCS said the first ash emission occurred from 5:30 a.m. to 7:29 a.m. while the second one from 7:39 a.m. to 8:05 a.m.

“Time-lapse footages of two ash emission events at the summit crater of Kanlaon Volcano from 05:30 AM to 07:29 AM, and 07:39 AM to 08:05 AM today (23 October 2025), " PHIVOLCS said.

“These events generated grayish plumes that rose up to 600 meters above the crater before drifting west-southwest as recorded by the IP Camera in Kanlaon Volcano Observatory-Canlaon City,” it added.

Alert Level 2 is still up over Kanlaon Volcano, which means there is an increased unrest. Sudden steam-driven or phreatic eruptions may occur in the volcano.

Under Alert Level 2, entry into the four-kilometer radius Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) and the flying of any aircraft close to the volcano are prohibited.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
