Suspect in killing of Bulacan provincial exec, driver nabbed in Navotas

One of the four suspects in the fatal shooting of a board member of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan and his driver in October 2024 has been arrested in Navotas, the provincial police said Thursday.

"We are glad to inform everyone that last October 22 at 1 o'clock early in the morning, we were able to arrest one of the suspects," Bulacan Police director Police Colonel Angel Garcillano said in a press briefing.

Authorities conducted surveillance for two months before they served the arrest warrant against the suspect.

According to Garcillano, the arrested suspect allegedly served as the driver during the crime.

He added that the suspect was also allegedly involved in previous gun-for-hire activities and robbery incidents.

On October 3 last year, Sangguniang Panlalawigan ng Bulacan board member and Association of Barangay Captains in Bulacan head Ramilito Capistrano and his driver Shedrick Toribio were inside their vehicle when the suspects shot them in Malolos City.

The suspects are accused of two counts of murder.

According to Garcillano, the remaining three suspects are still at large, including the now-dismissed cop who is being considered as the possible mastermind.

The former cop was able to escape from PNP restrictive custody at Camp Crame last year.

Authorities are still looking into the possible motive behind the killing, Garcillano said. — VDV, GMA Integrated News
