21-year-old man arrested for beating up 13-year-old over banana

A 21-year-old man was arrested in Barangay Lahug, Cebu City, after he allegedly beat up his 13-year-old neighbor for refusing to give him a piece of banana. 

According to the report by Super Radyo Cebu’s Gabriel Bonjoc on Thursday, the investigation also showed that the suspect shut the victim’s mouth and threatened him not to report what happened. 

But the suspect told Super Radyo Cebu that he only hit the victim in the head after the latter called him “kawatan,” or a thief. 

The victim and his grandmother reported the incident to the police, which led to the suspect’s arrest. The suspect is now in the custody of the Mabolo Police Station. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/VBL, GMA Integrated News
