Kindergarten teacher shot dead by husband in Leyte school
A 39-year old kindergarten teacher was fatally shot by her husband inside Agbanga Elementary School in Matalom, Leyte on Wednesday morning.
According to the report of GMA Regional TV’s Fe Marie Dumaboc in “Saksi” on Thursday, the Matalom Municipal Police Station said the 49-year-old suspect pretended to be a delivery rider to gain entry inside the school which does not have a security guard.
Fellow teachers said the couple had an argument until the 39-year-old victim ran towards a classroom to seek help. The suspect caught her and shot her twice on the neck before escaping.
No other persons were hurt, cops said.
Investigation showed that the victim already filed a complaint against the suspect in the past.
“Ang nakikita po naming motibo is itong family problem. Kasi months ago, ito pong babae nag-file ng case, particularly VAWC or RA 9262,” said Matalom Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Police Lieutenant Ronnel Cawili.
(The motive we see behind this is a family problem. Because months ago, the victim filed a case for violation of Violence Against Women and Children or Republic Act 9262.)
The suspect immediately went to their house in Matalom Proper where authorities found him dead inside a bathroom. The man had a gunshot wound on the head.
Teachers and students of the school are currently undergoing psychological intervention.
Meanwhile, the Schools Division of Leyte said that enhanced security measures will be implemented in the school. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
