Cyclist hurt after ramming a car in San Mateo, Rizal

A 63-year-old cyclist was hurt after ramming his bicycle down a sloped road into a car in San Mateo, Rizal.

According to the "24 Oras" report by EJ Gomez, the incident happened at around 8 a.m. on Saturday.

"'Yung part na yun, sobrang tarik niya. Nung paakyat ako, nakita ko 'yung kalsada na wala akong kasalubong. Nagulat na lang ako sa biglang may bumulusok sa aking pababa, so there's no way to escape na po," said Jun Sapa, the driver of the car.

(That portion of the road was very steep.  I didn't see any vehicle coming as I was driving, so I was surprised when the bike hit the car.)

Police Lieutenant Jaime Arquillo, duty office at San Mateo Police, said the place of the incident was a sharp curve and "very dangerous."

"We consider it accident-prone," he added.

The cyclist was given first aid by responders and brought to the hospital.  He has been discharged and recovering, the report said.  GMA Integrated News is trying to get a comment from the cyclist.

The report said the car owner and the cyclist have settled the matter. —LDF, GMA Integrated News
