Trips to some Bicol provinces fully booked ahead of Undas 2025

Buses bound for provinces in Bicol are now fully booked at the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) as passengers prepare to go home to their hometowns to observe Undas 2025 this week.

According to Darlene Cay’s report on “24 Oras” on Monday, bus trips to Legazpi and Pio Duran in Albay, and Iliga in Camarines Sur are fully booked until Friday.

Passengers who were unable to secure a bus ticket opted to become chance passengers, like Roger Logronio, who was unable to secure a ticket to Sorsogon for Thursday.

PITX spokesperson Jason Salvador said more buses will be deployed in the following days since the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board has committed to issue more special permits.

He added that with the implementation of the wellness break for students and teachers this week, the influx of passengers will be spread out over several days.

Meanwhile, the Land Transportation Office inspected bus terminals in Quezon City, including the bus units and their drivers to check if they have adequate safety equipment.

“We have directed all area managers to prepare for and strictly implement the necessary safety measures during the expected passenger surge this Undas to ensure smooth operations and passenger convenience,” said retired Lieutenant General Raul del Rosario, director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP).

The CAAP said it expects the number of passengers at Philippine airports to increase from 4.8 million in 2024 to 5.9 million in 2025. — Mariel Celine Serquiña/JMA, GMA Integrated News
