Man dead, BJMP officer wounded in Bulacan shootout
A man died after engaging policemen in a shootout for still unknown reasons in Barangay Muzon South, San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan on Wednesday.
According to Sandra Aguinaldo’s report on “24 Oras,” policemen responded to the complaints of residents in the area about a man firing his gun.
However, the suspect turned his firearm on the law enforcers upon seeing them, turning the incident into a shootout.
The man was eventually shot and brought to the hospital, while a personnel of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology who was in the area was injured after sustaining a graze wound.
According to an updated report by Raffy Tima also on “24 Oras,” the suspect eventually died in the hospital.
His wife – who just gave birth last month – said she had no idea how her husband got hold of a gun and why he went on a shooting spree.
The wife admitted that they had to leave their home a few days ago because they could no longer afford to pay their rent.
Meanwhile, some residents claimed that the suspect told another person that he was allegedly depressed. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
