Sibling dispute possibly led to Bulacan shootout, says cops

The daylight shootout in Barangay Muzon South, San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan on Wednesday may have been triggered by a dispute between siblings, according to police.

According to John Consulta’s Thursday report on “24 Oras,” the suspect was allegedly looking for his sister outside their house while armed with a 9mm handgun.

Before the incident, the siblings were reportedly in an argument. Police said the suspect possibly wanted to hurt or threaten his sister.

Meanwhile, the suspect’s wife questioned the manner of the police response, saying authorities did not fire a warning shot first and instead killed her husband.

In response, the police said they only defended themselves from the suspect, claiming they tried to talk to the man who instead shot at them.

Police recovered the handgun and 17 bullet casings from the gunman.

They also found that the suspect has a pending warrant of arrest for murder in Navotas City. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
