1 killed, 9 injured in Pagbilao Power Station fire
One person was killed while nine were injured after a fire broke out at Pagbilao Energy Corporation’s (PEC) facility on Friday evening.
In a statement on Saturday, PEC confirmed there was a fire incident at Unit 3 of the Pagbilao Power Station in Ibabang Polo, Pagbilao which occurred on October 31, 2025 at around 9:00 p.m.
The company said that the fire has been contained.
“We are deeply saddened that the incident resulted in one fatality and nine personnel sustaining injuries. At this time, our priority is to care for those who are hurt and ensure they receive appropriate medical treatment, and to support their families during this difficult time,” PEC said.
“We are actively verifying the condition of all personnel and contractors who were at the site during the incident. The safety and well-being of our people are our top priority, and we continue to provide the necessary medical and psychosocial support to those affected,” added the PEC.
The power generation firm, meanwhile, expressed gratitude to the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), the Pagbilao local government unit, Quezon Province officials, and emergency response teams for their efforts to ensure the safety of nearby residents and prevent the fire from spreading to other areas of the facility.
PEC said its Pagbilao Unit 3 has been placed on forced outage.
“Meanwhile, the adjacent Pagbilao Unit 2 is on a planned maintenance outage, and work thereon has been suspended for the time being, while Pagbilao Unit 1 remains online,” it added.
“PEC is fully cooperating with the relevant authorities in respect of this matter, and is extending the necessary assistance to affected personnel and their families,” the company said.
The power generation company said verified updates will be shared as soon as additional information becomes available.
