NAPOLCOM probes cop’s alleged ties in Negros Occidental businesswoman’s death

The National Police Commission (NAPOLCOM) has launched a motu proprio investigation on the police officer who is allegedly involved in the disappearance and killing of a businesswoman in Negros Occidental.

In a statement, NAPOLCOM said the vehicle of the 42-year-old victim was found abandoned and blood-stained in Negros Occidental on October 29.

On Saturday, the police officer, tagged as the prime suspect, voluntarily surrendered to Police Regional Office–Negros Island Region.

The cop is an active member of the Bacolod City Police Office.

“The NAPOLCOM will ensure that due process is observed and that the erring police officer will be held fully accountable. The administrative case will proceed separately from any criminal proceedings filed before the court,” Napolcom Commissioner Rafael Calinisan said.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive of the crime.

Meanwhile, NAPOLCOM said the Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) and the Special Investigation Team continue search and recovery operations to locate the victim’s remains. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
