OCD to rescuers: Conduct safe search, rescue ops amid Tino
The Office of Civil Defense (OCD) Eastern Visayas has reminded rescuers to conduct safe and rescue operations amid the onset of Typhoon Tino.
Speaking to “Saksi” on Monday, OCD Eastern Visayas officer-in-charge Rey Gozon said to refrain from conducting search and rescue operations during the height of the storm.
“Magiging delikado lang yung buhay nating responders,” Gozon said.
“Antayin lumipas ang bagyo saka lang tayo mag conduct ng search and rescue ops para safe tayong lahat,” he added.
(Our lives as responders will be at serious risk. Wait for the storm to pass before conducting search and rescue operations so that we will all be safe.)
Gozon also said there has been no reported damage so far in the region, but OCD will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
He added that there is enough space to shelter residents in evacuation centers.
Gozon also urged the public to remain indoors to avoid being hit by flying debris. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/LDF, GMA Integrated News
