Bacolod assures response preparedness for Tino
The Bacolod City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) in Barangay Taculing has assured response preparedness to possible emergency situation at the onslaught of Typhoon Tino.
The monitoring center of the Philippine National Police, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Fire Protection, and rescue groups are in one location.
It is estimated that 20 to 30 percent of the population of the city will be affected by Tino.
“We are prepared for the worst scenario. Most likely those who are in the coastal areas will be greatly affected. Barangays Banago, 1, 2, 3, Singcang," according to Earl Edward Ramirez, chief operations officer of the Bacolod CDRRMO.
Generator sets, a mobile kitchen, rice supply, and food items needed at evacuation centers are also in place.
“Kung maka-implement ang barangay ng preemptive evacuation, later this afternoon or early evening, better. Tinawagan naman natin ang DepEd, lahat na mga schools will be utilized as evacuation centers,” Bacolod City Mayor Greg Gasataya said.
"Prepared naman ang ating water tanker for clean water in case may mga lugar na walang tubig. Ang ating food truck, hot meals kitchen ready rin to provide,” said Rizaldy Alunan, focal person of RCY-Bacolod-Negros Occidental Chapter.
Residents of Purok Carvic in Barangay Mandalagan, where flooding is usually waist deep, are ready to evacuate.
"Responsibilidad namin na linisan. Sa maikling kwento, matagal pa silang dumating. Kung dumating na sila, bumabaha na dito, malalim na,” Romeo Lobaton, a resident, said.
"Ang mga maaaring maanod, iligpit na,” Joel, another resident, said.
The Province of Negros Occidental is already on Red Alert status.
The Provincial DRRMO is focused tightly on northern Negros Occidental being on the track of the typhoon.
“Pag nag-order ang ating LGUs [local government units] ng preemptive evacuation, sundin natin kaagad. Ang ating forecasted [forecast] area na heavily impacted is Northern Negros Occidental and meron rin sa Central Negros," according to Bryll Larry Sañor, spokesperson of Negros Occidental PDRRMO.
Almost all classes in the province were cancelled on November 3, 2025 until November 4, 2025. A few LGUs, such as Bacolod City, have suspended work in government. —GMA Regional TV
