P96M flood control project collapses ahead of storm-induced rains

Even without rains yet, a flood control project in Barangay 5, San Miguel, Iloilo has collapsed.

The collapse on a portion of the structure was reported at about 10 a.m. on November 2, 2025. 

The collapsed structure has worried residents as Typhoon Tino nears on Monday, November 3, 2025.

In a GMA Super Radyo Iloilo interview with Barangay Councilman Geenefer Salavante, funds allocated for the 602-meter project are pegged at P96.499 million. The total length of damaged portion is at 104 meters, according to data from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Iloilo Office. 

A town meeting with barangay officials was held to discuss on the collapsed structure.

The barangay has alerted residents especially that Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 1 is hoisted over the Province of Iloilo because of the possible effects of #TinoPH. GMA Regional TV
