PCG: 4 vessels run aground in Antique, Batangas, Palawan amid Uwan

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) on Monday said a total of four vessels ran aground in separate incidents in San Jose, Antique; Nasugbu, Batangas; and San Vicente, Palawan amid the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan.

“For the grounding, tugboat of Sea Asia 2 and barge Sea Asia 102. It is approximately 100 meters from the shoreline of San Jose Fishport in San Jose, Antique,” PCG's Civil Relations Service deputy commander Captain John Barrameda said in a press conference.

“Likewise, the grounding incident involving [landing craft tank] Felicity 8, the vicinity of waters of Barangay Wawa, Nasugbu, Batangas. And also the submerged motorbanca Shenalyn 2, vicinity waters of Barangay, Sto. Niño, San Vicente, Palawan,” he added.

Barrameda said no casualties were reported from these incidents.

Meanwhile, the PCG said 4,806 people were stranded at ports across the country due to the threat of Uwan from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

They were monitored in different ports in Central Luzon, Central Visayas, Bicol, Northeastern Mindanao, Western Visayas, Southern Tagalog, Eastern Visayas, Northern Mindanao and Southern Visayas.

A total of 2,222 rolling cargoes, 44 vessels. and 20 motorbancas were also stranded, while 392 vessels and 123 motorbancas were taking shelter amid the bad weather.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
