Fish swim inside houses in flood-stricken Hagonoy, Bulacan

Fishes can now be found swimming inside flood-stricken houses in Hagonoy, Bulacan amid the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan.

In Marisol Abdurahman’s report in “24 Oras” on Monday, small fish were seen inside the house of resident Alfredo Lopez. The family was able to save some of its appliances and furniture. Used to the constant floods, Alfredo was still able to cook meals despite the floodwater in the kitchen.

“We will just put the items upstairs [when the flood worsens],” he said while frying food from his still functioning stove. “We are doing our best to survive.”

Other residents are also trying to live normally despite the situation.

“We are doing well, we’re happy….We are used to this,” one resident said.

Meanwhile, some are taking advantage of the flood to earn extra income by offering boats to ferry locals around the town.

Despite the dangers to injuries and infections, some neighborhood kids have turned the flooded streets into swimming pools. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA Integrated News
