Fire struck over 80 houses in Bato, Leyte
At least 83 houses were razed in a fire in Barangay Iniguihan, Bato, Leyte.
The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Bato received the alarm at 4:30 a.m. on November 9, 2025.
The fire was raised to third alarm.
According to SFO4 Paul Morata, officer in charge of Bato BFP, they are yet looking into the cause and the damage left behind by the fire.
No one died, or reported hurt, in the incident.
The fire spread quickly because the houses were made of light materials and situated closely, Morata pointed out.
In addition, Jovie Jorge, staff member of Bato Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said no casualty was logged during the onslaught of the past two tropical cyclones in the area – Typhoon Tino and Super Typhoon Uwan.
However, the two storms affected heavily the municipality’s agriculture sector and the other sectors.
As of posting time, clearing and relief operations are ongoing in Bato. — GMA Regional TV News
