Senior citizen dies while rescuing pet cats in Catbalogan, Samar

A 65-year-old woman died while she was rescuing her pet cats amid the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan in Catbalogan, Samar.

According to Joseph Morong’s Monday report on “State of the Nation,” the woman was trapped inside her house after returning inside to rescue her cats.

The inclement weather brought by Uwan destroyed the houses of about 20 families living near the pier.

Catbalogan Mayor Dexter Uy said the typhoon struck at the same time as the high tide, which caused severe damage in the city.
