Teenager rescues over 50 people in Liloan, Cebu amid Typhoon Tino

Fifteen-year-old Jayboy Magdadaro came to the rescue of over 50 people in Barangay Jubay, Liloan, Cebu, who needed help navigating the floodwaters brought on by rains from Typhoon Tino last week.

According to a "State of the Nation" report by Oscar Oida, one by one, Jayboy loaded the flood victims in a small boat and brought them to a safe area in their barangay.

It took almost the whole day for Jayboy to conduct his rescue mission, braving the rising floodwaters and rains.

"Kahit malakas ang tubig, pinilit kong tumulong kasi naririnig ko ang sigaw ng tao," he said.

He added his love for skimboarding at sea gave him the skills to traverse the floodwaters.

In recognition of his valiant deeds, the local government of Liloan pledged to give him a scholarship until college.
