Another Iloilo City university gets bomb threat

Another university in Iloilo City has reported a bomb scare incident on Thursday, a day after the University of San Agustin in Jaro, Iloilo City received a bomb threat.

According to the report of Super Radyo dzBB Iloilo’s Sevein Hope Gegantoca, the spokesperson of Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) in La Paz said authorities did not find any bombs from the old and new site of the university.

The university said that it will pursue charges against anyone behind the bomb threat once identified. Face-to-face classes will resume on Friday.

In a Facebook post, the ISAT U said no threat was found in its campus as of 11:10 a.m. Thursday.

Earlier in the day, the university shifted its face-to-face classes online and advised faculty and non-teaching personnel to work from home.

On Wednesday, teachers of the University of San Agustin’s Basic Education Department reportedly received a bomb threat sent from a fake social media account.

The message claimed that there were bombs planted in the university’s Kindergarten building and main building.

After a search of the campus, police did not find any explosives on the premises.

The Diliman and Manila campuses of the University of the Philippines also received separate bomb threats, with police not finding any explosives in the said campuses. — Vince Angelo Ferreras/JMA, GMA Integrated News
