P14.6M shabu seized, 3 suspects nabbed in drug busts in Iloilo City, Pangasinan
Over P14.6 million worth of suspected shabu were seized in two separate buy-bust operations of the Philippine National Police’s Drug Enforcement Group in Pangasinan and Iloilo City on Wednesday evening.
The drug busts also led to the arrests of three high-value drug suspects, the PNP-DEG said.
At 6:48 p.m. Wednesday, the PNP-DEG’s Special Operations Unit 6 carried out a buy-bust operation in Barotac Nuevo in Iloilo City that resulted in the apprehension of a 44-year-old male suspect and a 35-year-old female suspect.
Police recovered 156 grams of suspected shabu worth P1.06 million from the two drug suspects, as well as other non-drug evidence.
More than two hours later, the PNP-DEG’s Special Operations Unit 1 conducted its own drug bust in Agno, Pangasinan at 9:17 p.m.
Arrested was a 48-year-old male, who yielded two kilos of suspected shabu worth P13.6 million.
The arrested suspects were brought to the nearest police station for documentation and proper disposition while the seized narcotics were turned over for forensic laboratory examination.
PNP-DEG director Brigadier General Edwin Quilates said the arrests are proof of their “unyielding commitment to protect our communities from the scourge of illegal drugs.”
“The DEG, together with our partner units, will continue to pursue drug traffickers and dismantle their networks to ensure that no amount of illegal substance reaches our people,” he added. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
