The Iloilo City Government offers a P100,000 reward for accurate information leading to the identification of perpetrator(s) of the series of bomb threats in the city.
On November 17, 2025, the series of bomb threats affected at least nine public and private schools in the city and the province.
One school received a bomb threat evening on November 16, 2025, based on a GMA Regional TV One Western Visayas report.
"We are serious about this. Indi lang ini isyu sang pagtuon sang kabataan, kundi isyu man sang seguridad sang bilog nga siyudad. Gina-assure ko ang publiko nga nagapadayon ang close coordination naton upod sa ICPO [Iloilo City Police Office], RACU [Regional Anti-Cybercrime Unit], kag NBI [National Bureau of Investigation] para maka-identify ang responsable sini," Iloilo City Mayor Raisa Treñas said in a post.
Meanwhile, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6, in a post, reminds the public that bomb jokes are no laughing matter.
"Bomb jokes may sound harmless to some, but they can trigger real panic, disrupt operations, and put innocent lives at risk. Under the law, making false bomb threats is a serious criminal offense with heavy penalties, including imprisonment and fines. Always remember that safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s choose our words wisely and help create a secure environment for all. Stay alert, stay responsible, and never treat bomb jokes as something to laugh about," PRO 6 said.
PRO 6 pointed out that making bomb jokes or bomb threats is a criminal offense under Presidential Decree 1727. Penalties can go up to five (5) years imprisonment, fine of up to P40,000, or both penalties combined. — GMA Regional TV
